Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Biography
Carmel O’Brien-Kelly, TCMD, R.Ac.
Carmel O’Brien-Kelly is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor and Registered Acupuncturist. Carmel’s main interests of practice are pain reduction and stress management. She started practicing acupuncture in 2003 in Calgary and joined the multi-disciplinary wellness team at Anodyne Chiropractic and Sports Therapy in 2008.
Carmel completed a three and a half year program at the Alberta College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, affiliated with BeiJing University, and a six month internship at ZheJiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and University in HangZhou, China.
Carmel began studying alternative medicine in 1996 at the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing. She has completed additional training in the areas of: Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, Five Element and Esoteric Acupuncture, Korean Hand Therapy, Acutonics, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Total Body Modification, Gokavi Transverse Technique (a form of Intramuscular Stimulation), and a variety of other alternative modalities.
Her interests include travelling, good food and wine, alternative medicine, and staying fit.
Kari Pettersen, Registered Acupuncturist
Kari Pettersen is a Registered Acupuncturist. Kari has an enduring personal interest in human health and wellbeing. She is a graduate of the three year program of Acupuncture at Grant MacEwan University and is a Registered Acupuncturist of the CAAA (College and Association of Acupuncturist of Alberta). Kari was born and raised in the Grande Prairie area and became interested in Acupuncture after completing health and nutrition courses at Grande Prairie Regional College.
She is a firm believer in the holistic approach with special interests in sports therapy; including muscle injuries and rehabilitation as well as stress management.
Kari enjoys staying active by swimming, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and playing ringette/ hockey. Other interests include traveling, camping, and hiking.
